27 picture cards, 27 word cards and 27 labelled picture cards for the geometric plane shapes typically studied in Montessori settings:
circle, triangle, square, rectangle, curvilinear triangle, quatrefoil, ellipse, oval, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon, trapezium, (trapezoid also included for US spellers), rhombus, parallelogram, kite, quadrilateral, chevron, equilateral triangle, acute angled isoceles triangle, right angled isoceles triangle, obtuse angled isoceles triangle, acute angled scalene triangle, right angled scalene triangle and obtuse angled scalene triangle.
The labelled picture cards are presented to the child and the shapes are named. Children match the picture cards and then the word cards to the first row of cards. A three period lesson can be given to teach the vocabulary if appropriate.
