Numbers and Counters
The wooden number cards 1-10 and 55 green wooden counters are stored in a wooden box with two compartments and a lid.
The numbers 1-10 are laid out in the correct order and the counters counted out and placed in pairs beneath. The child associates the correct number of counters with the numerals. The paired pattern in which the counters are laid out introduces the concept of odd and even and gives a visual memory image of the relative sizes of the numbers.
