Magnetic Globe and Field Finder

A model of the Earth containing a strong magnet which creates an invisible exterior magnetic field similar to that of the Earth, and a hand held Magnetic Field Finder which is a three dimensional magnetic compass. Explanation information is included.

Place the field finder near to the globe and it orientates itself to show the direction of magnetic flux around the Earth.

The field finder will also reveal the 3 dimensional nature of magnetic fields around any magnet which when used in conjuction with activities with iron filings can really help in hte understanding of magnetic forces.

Encorages children to ask questions about why things happen and how things work.
