Phonics Reading Cards

Mots simples en anglais

30 pairs of pink cards, 66 pairs of blue cards and 96 pairs of green cards: printed picture cards and matching word cards to cover early three letter words, initial blends, final blends, mixed blends, doubled final consonants, consonant digraphs, vowel digraphs, magic e.

The children match the picture and word cards, by sounding out and blending the sounds to read words. There are many pairs of rhyming words/pictures included to help a child recognise the sounds in words.

- every word card has a matching picture card

- all words have regular phonic pronunciation

- clear photographs, mainly on a white background for clarity

- Sassoon font with red consonants and blue vowels for pink and blue sets, with green phonograms for the green set

This set is equally useful at home or in non-Montessori settings where a phonics approach to reading has been adopted.

The picture shows a selection of the cards. The newly printed sets have rounded corners to prevent scuffing.

ELG: Hear and say sounds in words in the order in which they occur. Read a range of familiar and common words and simple sentences independently.

ELG: Reading: children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read.
